If I just hold it here long enough - I might just start reading again, wont I? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโ € โ € Haha believe me, I have tried this, but it did not work. Now the books are just my props, until the urge of reading returns. On the bright side: now that I am not reading at all, I am ironically spending a lot of time talking about books!๐Ÿ“šโ € โ € The past few days I have had some nice conversations with friends and bookstagramers about the books they are reading. Receiving tips and recommendations, comparing authors and which series (based on books) that we are excited to watch. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโ € โ € Right now I am enjoying His Dark Materials, which I have to say is really really good! I was so nervous to see it come to life again - especially after that movie version. But the cast is good, it is well made and they just brought Philip Pullmans world to life beautifully. โ˜บ๏ธโ € โ € Good Omens was just marvelous! I have yet to read the book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, but I really enjoyed the series. Not to mention that the pair: Michael Sheen and David Tennant probably is the best duo I have seen in a series in a long time๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝโ € โ € However, the biggest expectations for this year is: The Witcher. I just cant wait for it! Everything looks amazing, the trailer, the costumes, the actors, the scenery. Friday the 20th, I will be going to the Continent! ๐Ÿ˜โ € โ € The only question is: will I manage to just watch one episode? Or will I binge it all in one evening? ๐Ÿค” @unumdesign #unumfam #readingslump #bookstrider #readygoread #behindthepages #bookishthoughts #christmasvibes #goodomens #thewitcher #hisdarkmaterials #terrypratchett #bookishpost #bookgram #alwaysbereading #lightroomedit #bookgrammer #bookgram #bookstagramcommunity #bergenreads #bookstagramnorway #bookpile #booktower #bokehlicious #bookishgirl #instabook
"The creative adult is the child who survived." โ € - Ursula Leguinโ € โ € Creative Monday! ๐Ÿ’ก Which one of these do you prefer? 1 or 2? โ € I couldnโ€™t decide so I put them both up ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐ŸŽ„โ € โ € The bright side with this ongoing reading slump is that my creativity is still very much alive. Maybe I have freed up some space in my head to unfold all those creative ideas that have been lingering in the back of my mind this fall? โ € โ € I spent the weekend writing down ideas in my notebook, contemplaiting on how and when I should take my pictures as 1) my flat is so dark and 2) because the daylight disappears quickly. I even went through all my stuff trying to find things I could use in photos in the future. โ € โ € On Sunday I decided to make my couch my bed for the day and take some pictures here where the light is bright and good (that is on a good day). I ended up having a lot of fun trying to find new ways to take pictures, looking through some of my old photoshop experiments and going through my youtube channels to get some inspiration. This shot was inspired by @kutovakika ๐Ÿ“ธ she has an amazing and so inspiring channel! โค๏ธโ € โ € I have got some nice ideas that I am eager to try out, so I can wait for a day with a lot of sun and daylight to take pictures. This time, I will remember to charge my camera.๐Ÿ˜‚โ € โ € And hey! I won a gift card for a bookshop! So if you got a recommendation or two for what book I should get, let me know! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโ € โ € #creativemonday #bookstrider #behindthepages #behindthescenes #bookishthoughts #bookstagramcommunity #creative #creativity #photography #bookstagram #christmasvibes #bookstagramcommunity #readygoread #christmaslight #fairylightsphotography #lightroomedit #kutovakika #creativegrammer #makemoment #aslowmoment #creatorclass #bokehlicious #bookgram #bookgrammer #bookishpost #bookishgirl #dodger #terrypratchett
โ€œA book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party, a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counselors.โ€โ € โ € They have been in my hands, backpack, next to me in bed - and still...nothing. I am so frustrated with my self and the lack of interest in reading.๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ“šโ € โ € It also feels like I have been needing this break for a while. Somehow I ended up putting more pressure on myself this year than I intended. I was supposed to just read the books I wanted, no rush, no stress, just pure reading. Enjoying every word and page๐Ÿ“–. I guess I already felt it this summer, but I ignored it.โ € โ € Slowly it grew bigger and bigger. That stress. I love books, reading and this community - so I kept going. Keeping up with challenges, buddyreads and reviews. That combined with a very busy fall, I just reached my limit.โ € โ € I have enjoyed this year a lot! All the books, projects & new bookworm friends has been such a great experience. ๐ŸฅฐBut the pressure of always having a new post or a new book, has become too big. I had a goal of reading 50 books this year, but now I just can be bothered anymore. โ € โ € So next year: no reading goals. No pressure or competition with myself to read more than the year before. My focus will be purely on reading when I feel I want to. My posts may vary, some with books, some without. ๐Ÿ“ธโ € โ € I recently asked if people planned their posts. I have had discussions with a few about it, and I have concluded that yes I need to plan ahead.๐Ÿ—“โ € โ € Why? โ € This has not felt as much fun as it used to be. Post travel depression, dark winter days and just exhausted by a busy life. So maybe planning things ahead will give me some more free time. Time to find back to that joy of reading & posting reviews here. A more structured week may very help to free up some time, to take a deep breath and be me. At least thats what I told myself when I bought my new planner!๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ““๐Ÿ’ธโ € โ € I'll find the way back to my garden, to the party that this community is and offers and of course: all the wise words we share here. Until then, I'll put my energy on other things. Maybe more photography, writing and just being me again. I am sure my brain will start to miss those pages soon enoughโœจ
These past few days I have not read a single book. I hit a serious reading slump when I got back from Morocco, and after trying to force myself to just read a little, I decided it was best to just stop. If I am forcing myself to read, I am not enjoying it.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโ € โ € The same Friday that I posted about it, I stopped by the library to see if I could just find some motivation. I didnt. ๐Ÿ’”Sometimes you just need a break. What I did do while sitting at the train station, was to search for audiobooks. Sometimes, it just helps to listen, rather than reading. โ € โ € I found that most recommended books by Joe Abercrombie and more spesifically The Blade Itself, book one of the The First Law trilogy, as a good fantasy book to listen to. So I downloaded it, and even if my mind was telling me I was in no mood for reading, I gave it a chance. Three chapters later and I found myself just wanting to hear more. ๐ŸŽงโ € โ € My reading slump is still going on. However, I have found it relaxing to just listen to this while walking to work. It might last longer than I want, but sometimes you just need a break. I enjoy to listen to the story, letting my mind create the characters and the surroundings, gasping out loud, laughing or just stopping in the middle of the street because something happened. โ € โ € To be honest, I think my reading slump is a mix of the post travel depression I always get when I get back from a trip and dealing with the dark winter. So, for now, I will not read. ๐Ÿ“šI will listen, write, take pictures and let my mind slowly get back to it. I hope you're having a good reading week and if not: its okay, we will come back! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝโ € โ € #bookstrider #readingslump #helenorgeleser #audiobook #joeabercrombie #thenladeitself #fantasy #audible #bookish #bookishconfessions #audiobooklove #audiobookstagram #bookstagramit #bergenreads #bookstagramnorway #bookstagramcommunity #booksnerdigan #gollancz #orbitbooks #fantasybook #fantasybooks #leselyst #instabook #bookconfession โ €
Christmas isn't a season. It's a feeling.๐ŸŽ„โ € - Edna Ferberโ € โ € Creative Monday!๐Ÿ’กโ € I dont know about you, but I really do love this time of year. ๐ŸŒŸThe smells, the colors and just the nice Christmas vibe all around (except for the people stressing in the malls๐Ÿ™ˆ!) As you may well now by now: I am single, closing up to ten years on being on my own. ๐ŸŽˆโ € โ € Something that I did miss in the beginning was sharing my experiences and daily life with someone. The small things, everyday life. Of course I have my family and friends, but you know, there is just something different when you share it with a partner. After being part of someone else's life for so long, it took a while to adjust to being on my own ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿปโ € โ € One day I thought to myself: Well, if I dont do it, nobody else will! And ever since that moment, this has been my mantra. If I dont make my life enjoyable, nobody else will. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธAnd then it started: I started going out for dinner alone, cafes, cinema (well I had done that since I was a kid - skipping school to watch movies instead! Sorry mom๐Ÿ™Š). When Christmas came around, I made my own calendar. ๐ŸŽ„โ € โ € This is probably something that I enjoy more than anything. I will sit down, make a list of all the days, plan out what I should get when - and then I make it. ๐Ÿ—“When December 1st arrives, I have my very own calendar to enjoy. With all the stuff that I love to do. This year I changed it up a little, I did not want it to cost too much, so I have included more things that are free or cheap. Its all about making me feel the Christmas spirit, enjoy the time I have to myself and combine it with what I love about my life. โ € โ € I even introduced a calendar book! ๐Ÿ“šThis is a book that I got for my big 30s last year and still havent had the time to read. So I figured I would make it my calendar book and read in it whenever I got my: 1-hour-on-the-coach-with-a-book-card. However, due to my reading slump I havent started on it yet. Time will tell if this was a good idea or not! โ € If you have read this one: did you like it? Let me know! โ˜บ๏ธโ € โ € โ €
Itโ€™s not me, itโ€™s you! โ € โ € I have officially hit a reading slump! ๐Ÿ˜ซ I just canโ€™t seem to get myself to sit down and read. โ € I am not sure who it is at this point but I am struggling a little bit with my reading these days. I picked up this book at the library: Silo and it seemed interesting, but now I am just not engaged in it. โ € โ € Maybe itโ€™s because I am reading it in Norwegian or maybe my motivation is just not there ๐Ÿ˜• so instead of trying to force myself to keep reading Iโ€™m taking these next few days off. Hopefully my motivation will return! โ € โ € Or maybe Iโ€™ll just have to reread a book I really really love ๐Ÿ™ˆ what do you do when you find yourself in a reading slump? ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโ € โ € โ € #bookstrider #bookstragram #readygoread #helenorgeleser #bookphoto #bookphotography #alwaysbereading #readingslump #alwaysbewriting #bookaholic #bergenreads #instabook #bokglede #booklove #booklover #bookcommunity #bookstagramnorway #thewitcher #silo #behindthepages #bookconfessions #bibliophile #bookishthoughts #bookstagramcommunity #librarybooks #hughhowey #librarylife #librarylove #librarylover #bergenbibliotek
